About Me

About Nelly

My name is Nelly Medina. I am running for School Committee, District E, because our public schools need a representative committed to transparency and safety and open communication. I want funding for robust enrichment initiatives, including special education, after-school activities, and summer programs.

These opportunities will prepare young minds, including my nine-year-old son, for the future, inspire hope, improve mental health, and encourage optimism about Worcester’s public education system’s potential.

giving A VOICE TO PARENTS

Nelly Medina is a passionate advocate for students and educators, and she’s ready to be the supportive ally parents need on the Worcester school committee! She understands that many decisions often overlook the valuable perspectives of parents and caregivers, and she’s dedicated to changing that.

In April 2025, Nelly successfully mobilized the WPS parents to petition the Worcester School Committee to recognize April as Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month. This climate and culture initiative promotes increased understanding and support for autistic students within the school community, while also providing a platform for parents and caregivers, who often feel invisible when advocating for their children’s special needs.

Nelly serves as a parent leader across many groups, including Free Worcester, the Worcester Education Justice Alliance, the Parents Union of Massachusetts (PUMA), and the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
